The Small Cities, The Heart Pills, Good Grief @ Bottle & Barrel
by Zachary Oliphant on Nov 3, 2011 • 11:49 am No CommentsWhat a delight to have The Small Cities back in Eau Claire for the second time this year. In February, they joined some of our best home-town offerings at the Local Independence Showcase, where they first officially hit my radar. This time around, the modest Bottle & Barrel called their ticket. They were joined by The Heart Pills and Good Grief.
I’m Gone by the small cities The Small Cities – “I’m Gone” (myspace.com stream)
Love me a drummer with pipes, a bass player that’s not afraid to put his hair up, a custom built guitar, dudes that mean it when they play. The Small Cities have all those things and more, count me in, I’m locked-on. They have a short EP, for now, but watch out for a new album as they are currently recording.
They were followed up by The Heart Pills, who have clearly proven themselves a new staple in the EC scene. FYI – they just released a very cool new video for “Bus Ride.” Check it out. An over-dose of The Pills seems highly unlikely, as they continue to force me to smile, show after show. Tired and deflated after the St. Louis come-back victory in game 6, I couldn’t stick around to fully take in Good Grief. The Stevens Point group does deserve a good look n’ listen though, find them on Facebook.
