The Gentle Guest played outside of a bar, and it was good. As it turns out, the monster isn’t fueled exclusively by whiskey and drunk audiences. Playing minus a few horns and drummer Zach Hanson, they managed execute their signature storytelling finesse to a bar-room degree. I especially enjoyed some of the contributions sit-in drummer Dave Power made, turning the build in “Rumor Mill” into an 80′s new-wave groove. The Gents also dropped some new material, perhaps they have a new record in the works? Let us dream.
