Peter played to a jam-packed crowd at The Cabin in November
Peter Miller is We Are The Willows, and we love his stuff. A Twin Cities man, he defines life in the fast lane. When he isn’t hacking the homeland security mainframe, he’s day-trading at the NYSE via bluetooth. This plus all the great music he makes amounts to a busy schedule. But, dear man that he is, he took to time to share his top 5 albums of 2011. We hope this list whets your curiosity and provides insight into just what makes Peter tick.

5) David Bazan – Strange Negotiations
I’ve loved Bazan’s jams for a long time. One thing I especially like about his recordings is how layered they can be. Anywho, this most recent album is much more sparse than the previous Bazan recordings and at first I was kinda bummed about that. But eventually, the songs won out and this record goes down as one of my favorite efforts by Mr. Bazan.

4) Grand Hallway – Winter Creatures
When I was in Seattle last summer, my pal Matt gave me Grand Hallway’s most recent album. There is a song on here called, “Little Sister” that is incredibly pretty.

3) Feist – Metals
I received this album from Santa Clause a few days before Christmas. I’ve listened to it tons since then; so much in fact, that its making my best of 2011 list even though I only had it for a couple weeks of 2011.

2) Dolfish – Your Love Is Bumming Me Out
My pal Max is from Columbus, Oh and I think he writes some of the best songs ever.
1) Jeremiah Nelson – Drugs To Make You Sober
I met Jeremiah in Madison, WI. He helped me with a show on my last tour. We did an album swap and it’s the best swap I’ve ever made. I listened to this record almost every day last summer.
