BARR - Summary

Pictured: Brendan Fowler (BARR) isn’t a chair-with-an-arm-rest kinda guy. He’s a lot more complicated than that.

I’m sort of finding it funny that sometimes when I hear a new song I really, really like, my first thought is, “oh! I have to post this on the site right now!” It’s not an under appreciation for the song or an exaggeration of the site, but it’s a fairly new idea to me that I have a really good way of sharing music that I think other people should hear. Sometimes I think something is so good that I feel more selfish the longer I wait to post it.

I knew this of BARR immediately, and I know that it’s entirely possible that not many people will even like it. If anyone else at all feels like I do when they hear these songs though, it’s totally worth the hurried and excited post. I feel like I’m listening to Brendan Fowler’s nightly audio diary entries on Summary, some ranting and drama, some rambling, some scribbled out messages and rewording of sentences when they don’t come out quite right. It’s not a perfect album in any way. In fact, I really don’t like some of the songs on here, but there are strangely unique and perfect songs within it. It almost feels more authentic because of it too, like the same way you have to let your kids fuck up quite a bit before they really learn their lessons, and their once dramatic fuck ups eventually become simple quirks and charming little nuances.

BARR - First

A song called First is the perfect intro to this album.
