The four members of Minneapolis band The Battle Royale are most likely younger, and most definitely exponentially hipper than you are. Don’t take it personally, they’re not trying to show you up. They were simply put on this Earth to be uber-cool.
Their new album, Wake Up, Thunderbabe, is split down the middle, pumped half full of some serious break-neck dance rock tracks, showing signs of The Faint and Hot Hot Heat(remember Bandages?), while the second half shines with acousta-pop brightness similar to Loney, Dear and the lovable tunes of Page France.
Side A’s Racecar has some pretty killer beats and guitar riffs. Also, if you listen to it backwards it’s the same as forward?
