Lyrics are not important to me. As a matter of fact, the poetry is the last thing I pay attention to when I listen to an album. David Bazan sings about finding girls gagged and bound. The Game raps about gangbanging and marijuana. Nobody knows what My Bloody Valentine is singing about. I don’t give a shit.
What I’m saying is that it’s rare that the lyrics of a song catch my attention on any level. But Yoni Wolf gets me every time. I’ve listened to this album about 13 times now, and I still don’t know if I could tell you what he’s talking about, but when I’m listening to it, he makes sense. You’ll get it.
And then there’s the music. Holy shit, the music. I don’t know how to make chords sound good anymore. WHY? just destroyed everything I thought I knew about chord progressions. I don’t get it.
Here is one song specifically authorized by a surprisingly friendly label rep.
Purchase The Hollows EP here. Alopecia is due March 11, 2008.

I totally understand what you mean… everything makes sense when you’re listening to it, I’m not a lyrics maniac also, but the harmony with no musical rules is amazing…. it is indeed a very fuckin’amazing LP for this year!

They played The Media Club right after I started working there and it is by far the best show I had the chance to see there.
best,

i just saw these guys last week at triple rock with tobacco and let me say it was a fucking experience. everyone has like 2-3 things going on per song, and i got to see someone play the drums with a maraca. that was crazy awesome
