This single came out last year for an album that has yet to materialize this side of the Atlantic. I’m not exactly sure why, but for whatever reason there has been delay and delay and delay from these British rockers, to the point that most people (including me) have forgotten that this group even exists. South had a song on the OC a flagillion years ago, and since then have grown artistically in leaps and bounds.
This single finds the guys starting out with a fairly typical piano rocker, but mess things up with dance beats, bell parts, and crazy echo parts. It’s gratifying to hear someone run artistically with this sort of song and not just beat the already cliched genre into the ground. South should be proud with what they’ve got, even if it’ll never make its way over here. I guess that’s what the internet is for.

the first part of the melody reminds me of a game i used to play on Sega Game Gear. it was either Mickey Mouse or Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
