It was only last May when Zach Condon made pee-pants out of every indie kid’s slacks. And then they all wore them around for a week afterwards, trying to justify it with, “this is the pair I was wearing when I first heard Gulag Orkestar.” God, that was fucking gross you guys. And in that amount of time, while the kids where trying to figure out what to do with their pants -
option #1: ask mommy to wash them…totally embarrassing, or
option #2: make some really cool wall art…totally sweet -
Condon has been out doing numerous American and international tours, releasing two more EPs, “Lon Gisland,” and “Pompeii,” and turning 20-years-old. Jeepers creepers…20-years-old.
This video for “Elephant Gun,” the first track on the 5-song “Lon Gisland,” EP, is the latest Beirut development, and it’s armed with some pretty exciting theatrics. The footage from 2:30-3:10, with Condon blowing a trumpet into the abyss of an ocean, is fairly heartbreaking, and who doesn’t love parties where the main ingredients include wine, confetti and elephant trunk masks? I don’t know anyone, not one single person, who doesn’t love them.
So, go on, click on the link. NO WAIT, maybe you should rethink the pants? I don’t know, it’s just a precautionary suggestion.
Also, read up on your stuff at www.beirutband.com, the latest update has Zach and the band “hard at work in the studio, working on the next album…”
